Training is only half of it.Ownit coaches both.Fitness app with an AI coach for training and nutrition

Ownit plans your training and your nutrition, tells you what weight is next before every workout and adjusts your calorie target to what you actually burn, every week.

Why both

Muscle is built in the gym and in the kitchen.

Training

Ownit plans your training and, after every session, suggests weight and reps for the next one.

Nutrition

Your calorie target comes from your data and adjusts every week.

One coach

The AI coach sees both and answers your questions with your numbers.

Training

A training plan that adapts to you

Ownit plans your training and learns from every session you log.

  • The AI coach builds your plan from your goal, experience, equipment and free days.

    Read more AI workout plan
  • After every workout Ownit evaluates your sets and suggests weight and reps for next time.

    Read more Progression coach
  • After every session the AI coach tells you what went well and what to watch next time.

  • Volume per muscle, strength trends and training frequency, with your history from other apps if you like.

Nutrition

Calories and macros based on what you really burn

Ownit plans your nutrition, makes logging easy and keeps recalculating what you burn.

  • Calories and macros that fit your goal, body and day, adjusted in the chat with the AI coach.

  • A photo of your plate, a barcode or the nutrition label: the AI recognises the food and estimates the amounts.

  • Ownit works out what you actually burn from your weight and food and adjusts your target every week.

AI coach

A coach that knows both sides

The AI coach knows your training and your nutrition. You ask what you want to know, and it answers with your numbers.

  • Weekly check-in

Once a week the coach checks in with you. With a human coach you also get personal weekly feedback and a weekly report.

  • Questions whenever you like

Why has my bench press stalled? How much protein am I still missing today? The coach answers with your training and nutrition data.

  • Adjust plans in the chat

Tell the coach an exercise doesn't suit you or you have less time. It suggests the change, and you accept it with one tap.

  • Set targets in the chat

You talk through new calorie and macro targets with the coach. Ownit calculates them and you accept them with a tap.

Sample data: Lena, 29, week 3 of a hypertrophy block.

Backed by science

The studies behind Ownit

How many sets, how close to failure, how much protein, how much energy: Ownit's rules for training and nutrition follow more than a hundred studies and reviews from sports and nutrition science.

What is Ownit?

Ownit is a fitness app for strength training and nutrition with an AI coach. For free you get an AI workout plan, workout tracking, a calorie counter with barcode and label scanning, an overview of how many sets each muscle gets per week, and a calorie target the app keeps recalculating from your weight and food. Ownit Pro adds the AI coach. It suggests weight and reps after every workout, gives you feedback, recognises food in photos, adjusts plans and targets in the chat and answers questions using your training and nutrition data. Ownit runs on iOS and Android, in English and German. If you work with a coach on Ownit, Pro is included.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Ownit

Is there an app that combines training and nutrition?

Yes, Ownit tracks both in one app and links them: cardio raises your calorie target that day, training and rest days can get their own macro targets, and the AI coach answers questions using your training and nutrition data together. That way it can weigh, for example, whether a plateau comes more from your training or from your deficit.

Can I import my training data from other apps?

Yes. Ownit imports your training history from Hevy, Strong, Alpha Progression, FitNotes, Lyfta, Fitbod and JEFIT. You export the data in your old app and upload the file to Ownit. Exercises are matched automatically, and you review unclear matches before importing. The import is part of Ownit Pro.

Who is Ownit for?

For anyone who wants to build muscle, get stronger or lose weight without keeping training and nutrition in two apps. Ownit is a weaker fit if you want your data pulled in automatically from Apple Health, Garmin or other wearables, or if you are mainly looking for running and endurance plans.

Is Ownit free?

Yes. Training, nutrition, an AI workout plan, your calorie and macro target, habits, body measurements, photos, analytics, the adaptive calorie target and offline mode are free. Ownit Pro unlocks the AI coach, which means chat, plan changes, post-workout feedback, weight suggestions, food logging by photo and importing from other apps. If you work with a coach on Ownit, Pro is included.

What can the AI coach do?

The AI coach builds your workout plan, suggests weight and reps for next time after every workout and gives you feedback. In the chat it answers questions with your data and proposes changes to plans and targets that you accept with a tap. Ownit calculates calorie and macro numbers with fixed formulas. Once a week it reminds you of your check-in.

How does Ownit calculate my calorie needs?

At the start Ownit estimates your needs with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation. After that a Kalman filter combines your weight trend with your logged food, smooths out outliers like water retention and estimates your actual total daily energy expenditure (TDEE), cardio included. Once a week Ownit adjusts your calorie target, by at most 10 % at a time. You choose whether that happens automatically or after your OK.

Why am I not losing weight in a calorie deficit?

Usually your real expenditure is lower than formulas or fitness watches estimate, or more ends up on your plate than in your log. Ownit recalculates your expenditure from your weight trend and logged food and adjusts your target to match. Water can hide the weight trend for days, so Ownit looks at the trend over several weeks.

How much protein do I need to build muscle?

For building muscle, 1.6 to 2.2 g of protein per kg of bodyweight a day is usually enough. Ownit uses 2.0 g/kg when you maintain or gain weight and 2.2 g/kg when you lose weight, because protein helps you keep muscle in a deficit.

How many sets per muscle per week make sense?

As a rough guide, about 10 to 20 working sets per muscle per week, depending on the muscle, your experience and your recovery. Ownit shows where each muscle group stands against three landmarks: MEV is the minimum that makes a muscle grow, MAV the range where most people grow the most and MRV the upper limit you can still recover from.

How does Ownit suggest weight and reps?

For every set you log weight, reps and RIR, the number of reps you could still have done. After the workout Ownit evaluates each exercise. If every set reaches the top of the rep range, the weight moves up to the next fitting load, normally by at most 5 percent. Otherwise the reps go up first. Without an RIR entry the weight stays the same. Ownit learns the weight steps from what you log, or you set them yourself.

Does Ownit work without internet?

Yes. Ownit saves everything on your phone first and syncs once you are back online, so logging training and food works even in a gym with no signal.

How does Ownit handle my data?

Your data sits in a database in the EU and is processed under GDPR. You can export it at any time and delete your account right in the app. The details are in the privacy policy.

Start with your next workout.

Ownit is free on iOS and Android.
